First time in the Uffizi and the tour gave a real sense on what was going on in Florence around the 14th-15th century, combined with the big artists and their works. Mainly due to the effort of the guide Ra-phael. He did an excellent job, without making it the typical boring and dusty history class. The buildings surrounding the Uffizi where discussed together with the situation and life of people in early Florence and the rise of the Medici, hence a broad perspective was created. Within this perspective the great works where handeled and a timeline was understood. Ra-phael shows you (overlooked) details which makes you appreciate the works even more, And the tour gave a great sense of the viewpoint and character of the artist and his preferences. The artist and the impact of their works in that time are way better understood and it becomes very lively. Due to no other English speaking people in the group it was a private tour. Needless to say I can highly recommend it.
Alessandra gave us a very passionate and inspiring tour through the overwhelming Uffizi, including all the masterpieces. She was very knowledgable, also about paintings that weren’t necessarily part of the tour but that struck our attention. She told us about the historical context, the painters, their techniques and possible interpretations. One of our highlights in Florence, highly recommended!
It is a fun way to comprehend Leonardo Da Vinci a little bit more, especially for kids. It takes about one hour to visit. There are two almost identical museums around the corner from each other. We were at the wrong one first, but they were kind enough to guide us to the right one.
We had a very informative and good tour done by Anna. Her expertise about Michelangelo and both modern and classic art, also her good English, made that we enjoyed visiting the Accademia much better than last year when we did not book a guided tour. Definitely worth it!
