We reviewed a lot of trips but we thought this would be the best one with the highest chances. What i like most about this trip is that you go with a minibus instead of a big bus, this increases maneuverability and will get you to the best spots. When we were picked up our guide Harry told us we would go to Finland because it was really cloudy in and arround Tromso. On our way to Finland, about a 3h drive we had many snowstorms. Our driver was very experienced and had no problem driving through the bad weather. Harry taught us a lot about the Aurora Borealis during our chase. Unfortunately due to the snowstorm and clouds we were only able to get a 3 second glimpse on the lights. Harry is also a photographer and he made a few pictures from our trip. I think that if the weather would be better Harry would have made even more and better pictures with the lights. We were dropped of at our hotel at around 4 am. It was quite an adventure and a long trip (10 hours).
It was about 25 min drive to the Reindeer camp. We expected a Sami village but it was a camp with 2 tents, the Sami nowadays are working and living like normal people but they keep their traditions. We had plenty of time to feed about 300 reindeer which was a nice experience. We didn't do the ride on the sled but we didn't regret that. Afterwards we had a warm drink and later on a lunch which was a reindeer stew or a tomato soup. Afterwards we had a Sami presentation from the owner of the camp and then we went back home.
We had as a guide Petter, he seriously wqs really friendly and helping us to find the Northern lights. As well he was very social, talking to all of us and making some jokes as well. He knew as well a lot to tell besides the Northern light, like animals and history, what ever you were interested for. So yes, our night was pretty awesome. He took us to more then one place so we had the opportunity to have different backgrounds for our pictures.
Hele leuke (wilde), prachtige rendieren. Geweldige ervaring.
